Welcome to the Flyin H Ranch, a cherished family-owned oasis nestled in the heart of East Texas. For nearly three decades, Harlan and Sharon Ray, affectionately known as "H and Shay," have lovingly stewarded this picturesque land. Originally dedicated to cattle and hay production, this ranch has transformed into a multifaceted haven of hospitality and adventure.
In 1977, H and Shay united in marriage, hailing from Jacksonville, AR, and both embraced a life of service to their country. H soared the skies as a US Air Force Pilot, stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base, while Sharon contributed to the Arkansas Army National Guard, proudly serving on active duty throughout her career. Together, they embarked on incredible journeys, undertaking tours of duty in Southeast Asia, Europe, the Pentagon, and even Israel, where their daughter Lindsay was born.
Upon H's retirement from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel, the Rays returned to H's East Texas roots. Here, he seamlessly transitioned into ranching, real estate investments, and enjoyed a 20-year career as a commercial aviation pilot, flying B-747s worldwide. H also took on the role of an instructor and check airman at the company training center in Miami, FL.
In 2015, as H was nearing the end of his aviation career, H and Shay identified a new opportunity for their beloved ranch. Leveraging Shay's innate talent for hosting and a deep love for people, they set out to create a unique space for gatherings, celebrations, and relaxation on a working ranch. A portion of the ranch was transformed into an inviting events center, perfect for weddings, concerts, corporate functions, parties, and family reunions. They also acquired and lovingly renovated nearby cabins, offering them as vacation cabin rentals.
As the calendar turned to 2021, the Flyin H Ranch expanded its offerings with the introduction of The Garden Pub, a home to some of the finest home brews and meads in North East Texas. The Ray family's commitment to excellence and warm hospitality are evident in every aspect of this establishment.
The ranch's various facets carry the names of the Rays' beloved grandchildren. Savannah's Events is a heartfelt tribute to their first granddaughter, Savannah, while Cora's Cabins, named after granddaughter number two, Cora, provide a cozy retreat in the heart of the ranch.
Lindsay and her husband, Scott Brown, have become an integral part of the Flyin H family. Lindsay expertly manages all aspects of marketing, advertising, bookkeeping, and social media, all while fulfilling her role as a dedicated wife and mother of four, including the arrival of twins, Myka and Maci, in May 2019. Scott, a successful manager at a company in Tyler, enthusiastically lends his hand where needed on the ranch.
